Get started

Sky Sports Living for Sport is a simple initiative.  Here are a few things to consider before you start.

Get your school's support

This project is supporting whole school development and therefore it is important you get the support and backing of your senior management team.

  • Showing colleagues the site will help them understand what it's all about and how it might work for your school
  • Downloading our PDF case study from the resources section will help colleagues to see the benefits

What you want to achieve

Once you have the support of colleagues - together you need to decide what you want to achieve through the project and commit to this as a school.

  • As you work your way through the planning and tracking phases you'll refer back to these decisions, and be able to check that the project is actually doing what you want
  • There are loads of schools that have shared their case studies.  Take a look!

Work with different departments

The project is a good way for colleagues from different departments to work together.

Many, but not all the teachers leading Sky Sports Living for Sport are part of the PE/ Sports department.  However, they find the project gives them a chance to interact with:

  • Other departments.
  • Other learning support units.
  • Any behaviour management work that's already going on in their school.

Interact with the local community

Sky Sports Living for Sport provides a great opportunity for your school to interact with people locally

  • Get in touch with your local sports clubs, community centres and leisure centres.
  • Think about who you might want to approach and what they may be able to offer.
