Run your school's activities

The activities are a series of planned programmes of sport or physical activities specifically designed to help students gain a sense of belonging, work in a team, achieve their individual and team goals, and re-engage with mainstream school.

The activities, together with the other support that you may offer your young people, such as mentoring sessions, provide the core element of the Sky Sports Living for Sport project.

Targets

These activity sessions will support the group in working towards their targets and goals as well as developing their skills to enable them to plan and lead an event (next step!) and ultimately lead to them achieving and celebrating their success.

Building the project into something you are already doing

You may well be doing something similar already.  That's fine; can Sky Sports Living for Sport provide further support and add value to what you are already doing?

Make activities fun and rewarding

The activities should be both fun and rewarding and definitely be a slot in the day or week that students will look forward to and at which they can be relied on to participate. This activities can quite often be linked to the young peoples' targets and goals.

The choice is yours

The important thing to remember is that there is no one particular right activity.  It could be anything from 5-a-side to kayaking, orienteering to sailing.  The choice is completely yours and your students'.

Some schools have found a mid-programme interval can be helpful for everyone to take stock of what they've achieved so far and to decide whether the activities need to change, so don't worry if you can only plan up to half-term!

Have a look at our case studies if you want to find some good and maybe different examples!
