Gail Emms

-Badminton-

Gail Emms and mixed doubles partner Nathan Robertson are the most successful Great Britain badminton partnership ever. In 2004, they reached the final of the Olympic Games in Athens, narrowly losing to the Chinese pair but taking the silver medal. Gail then went on to win gold with Nathan in the World Championships in 2006, gold in the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and European titles both in the mixed and ladies doubles.

A former junior International, Gail made the successful transition to senior level, winning 9 National titles, the All England and 68 caps for her country along the way.

Gail went to school in Bedford and loved all sports. As a teenager, Gail found it tough to choose which path to take, with peer pressure and family situations proving strong factors. Her decision was to continue with badminton and fulfil her dream of being an Olympian.
