Alex Danson

Hockey

Alex is a member of the England and Great Britain's women's field hockey team. The Reading HC forward is one of the youngest ever England internationals, making her senior debut at just 16 years of age, whilst still at school.

Alex is a former BBC Young Sports Person of the Year nominee and has over 115 international caps to date. She has competed in 4 European Nations cups (Winning 3 bronze medals), 2 World Cups, 2 Champions Trophies, 3 Champions Challenges (Winning gold and bronze medals), 1 Commonwealth Games (winning a bronze medal) and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Alex is still training as an elite athlete and working hard to continue improving her game and realising her dreams.

When Alex was in her first years of secondary school she would be a nightmare to pull off the school playing fields! Sport taught Alex to balance and juggle school work and other commitments and gave her a dream and a purpose in her everyday life. The road has seldom been easy as Alex has been plagued by injuries throughout her career but has fought back every time. She has a huge passion for sport and life and truly believes that with hard work, energy and belief everyone can achieve their dreams.
