Darren Langley

Boxing — Light-flyweight

Darran Langley is a former England and Great Britain light flyweight boxer. He won silver medals at consecutive commonwealth games in 2002 and 2006 and also competed at three world championships and two European championships.

As a youngster Darran sometimes struggled to engage with school life. He started boxing at the age of 9 and helped by the discipline he'd learned through the sport he managed to turn things around and apply himself at school.

Darran has a twin brother, Stewart, who is also a talented boxer. The brothers grew up as fierce rivals, training partners and mutual supporters. In 2005, they ensured their place in boxing history when they both won aba titles on the same night!

Darran combined training and competing with a full time job as a postman. He thoroughly enjoyed this work despite the early morning starts and incredibly hard work; it taught him to be really organised which in turn made him a more successful boxer.

Through his 10 year international boxing career Darran believes he has learnt respect for himself and others, discipline; confidence; and the motivation to be successful in whatever he does.
