Throughout the year, we run a series of masterclasses with schools who have signed up and planned a Sky Sports Living for Sport project.
Each masterclass offers the project group a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in a session with one of our Sky Academy Ambassadors or Sky Sports on-screen talent, who have all played their respective sports to the very highest standard.
Since the beginning of 2015, we’ve delivered more than 10 masterclasses including the below examples:
- Jonny Wilkinson: Rugby World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson introduced students from Goffs School to his top tips for receiving the ball and how to pass short or long – all in front of the Game Changers cameras.
- Thierry Henry: The Arsenal and France legend ran a football masterclass for a group of year 8 and 9 students from Barking. There were goals, smiles and high-fives at the recently opened Arsenal Sports Centre!
- Colin Montgomerie: Whilst Colin is not a Sky Academy Ambassador, he works tirelessly to get young people into golf and he inspired a group of students from South Ayrshire schools ahead of The Open in the summer of 2016.
- Darren Campbell: Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell welcomed Teignmouth Community School up to Sky Studios for a Sky Academy experience day. Students heard all about Darren’s ‘Journey to Success’, met Sky Academy Sports Scholar Sam Oldham and made their own television report in the Skills Studio.
If you would like the chance to take part in one of our exclusive masterclasses during the 2016/17 academic year, keep an eye on our website and Twitter and Facebook pages for competition announcements.
